Welcome to Episode 3 of Ancestral Neighbours. If you missed Episodes 1 and 2, you can catch up with them here and here.
I am really having fun with this exercise. It takes no time at all; but of course, for the purpose of this blog I am simply listing names. To conduct the FAN approach properly, you should look at the occupations, place of birth, and any other facts you can glean from a record. You could even research each family further to see if there are connections via cousins, in-laws, earlier/later dates, religion or industry for example.
This week I am looking at the 1891 Census for the Fergusson branch of my family tree.

Original held at The National Archives, London; Reference: RG12; Piece: 297; Folio: 16; Page: 25

I hope this blog encourages you to apply the FAN (Friends And Neighbours) Method to your research, maybe start by exploring your ancestors’ streets.
Tune in next week for Episode 4 of Ancestral Neighbours.
